Before Your Notary Appointment

A few simple preparations can help your appointment go smoothly and prevent delays.

Before Your Appointment

  • Have a current, government-issued photo ID ready.
  • Review the document for completeness, but do not sign it until the notary is present.
  • Make sure every required signer is present and willing to sign.
  • Confirm whether your document requires witnesses and arrange for them in advance.
  • Have your preferred payment method available.

Acceptable Identification

Commonly accepted identification includes:

  • Arkansas driver’s license or state-issued ID
  • U.S. passport
  • U.S. military ID
  • Another current government-issued photo ID

Identification must be current and include a photograph and signature. If you are unsure whether your ID is acceptable, call or text before the appointment.

What to Expect

  1. Your identity will be verified.
  2. The document will be reviewed for completeness.
  3. You will sign in the notary’s presence when required.
  4. The notarial certificate will be completed and the document notarized.

Please Remember

A notary cannot choose documents for you, explain legal documents, or provide legal advice. If you have questions about the document or its legal effect, please contact the document’s issuing agency or a licensed attorney before your appointment.
